The Riverwalk Skate Meetups are Back in Beautiful Downtown Detroit, and This Year Marks the 5th Anniversary!

Prepare for a summer filled with engaging events at the Detroit Riverfronts Valade Park and Freight Yard on the Dequindre Cut. Whether you're an experienced skater or a beginner, these meetups offer a welcoming environment for everyone to have fun and improve their skills.
Starting in 2019, these meetups encourage those to who want a fun, active way to engage with community, to come out and enjoy the different parks and activations that have been curated by the Detroit Riverwalk, which is also celebrating their 20th anniversary this year!

This summer, Motown Roller skate Meetups at Valade Park will be held on the following dates: (All are first tuesday of the month except July 11th due to the 4th of July holiday)
- May 2
- June 6
- July 11
- August 1
- and September 5
To cater to skaters of all skill levels, the meetups are divided into two parts:

Learn to Skate (6-7 PM): For beginners or those looking to sharpen their skills, this session offers guidance from instructors, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for learning. This is a free class, but donations are always welcomed!

Ride (7-9 PM): Once you're feeling more confident on your wheels, join fellow skaters for a fun and social skate session along the picturesque Detroit Riverwalk.

In addition to the Valade Park events, Motown Roller Club will also host Friday night skate meetups at the Freight Yard on the Dequindre Cut on two special dates:
- May 19th
- AND
- July 28th
These meetups will take place from 6 to 9 PM, offering a unique skating experience along the scenic Dequindre Cut Greenway. The greenway stretches from the Detroit Riverwalk all the way to Eastern Market and connects the two by a 2 mile long paved pathway.

There is a free parking lot across the street from the park. DO NOT PARK ON THE STREET, YOU WILL GET A TICKET/TOWED
Freight Yard: Dequindre Cut Parking Lot Wilkins St, Detroit, MI 48207
You must park in the parking lot and walk (or skate) down the ramp into the Dequindre Cut. The Freight Yard will be an immediate right after entering the Wilkins street ramp.
